I stayed up way later than normal last night watching SNL. Tina Fey rocked the world as she did her impersonation of Gov. Sarah Palin. It was one of the funniest skits I've seen on SNL since the days of Dana Carvey doing 41, GHWB.
The rain here yesterday was fairly heavy. The pool level came up, which saved us from turning on the hose to fill it up a bit. Looking around at the backyard, we didn't have any wind damage and our bumblebees are out in force working the purple flowers which I can't recall the name of at the moment.
I'm sitting on the back porch with Molly today feeling pretty inspired and rested, I don't know how I could feel rested since I went to bed at what, 12:30 and got up at 7:44 a.m. For me, however, that is sleeping in.
Yesterday, during the rain, I took a long nap. It was about three hours long and though I never really felt spry when I got up again, I apparently was more tired than I thought I was.
So as I sit here, I'm trying to decide what I'm going to do today. There are so many creative things I want to be working on that I just haven't had the energy to do lately.
I want to begin shooting the kids doing their "What I want for Christmas" thoughts so that we can make a cool DVD with greenscreen effects to show grandparents exactly what each child desires for Christmas. And I'm wanting to get some good photography done on each of the kids, me and @pocahontis so that we can finish our sponsorship proposal for GrowingUpMac.com.
The yard looks like it needs some attention out back. We planted St. Augustine grass in the backyard to fill in around the pool and the stuff really is growing well. Too well, in some ways, if you know what I mean.
With fall coming and it being cooler to work in the garage wood shop, I stil want to finish our outdoor Chess set. The 10-foot square board in the yard is sitting there begging for board pieces.
I'm thrilled with the colors of our flower beds and well and pergola swing that line the far side of our pool. Our flowers just offer some heavenly colors to gaze upon
And I need to go back inside off the porch in a few minutes and start breakfast. They've requested a "big" breakfast this morning, which means I make bacon for nine, sausage, biscuits, cheesy scrambled eggs, pancakes and oh yeah, some of my Grandma Claxton's North Alabama 1940-50s homemade gravy from the bacon grease.
Speaking of her, I need to call and say hi. It's been a week or so and I wish we could get up to Northern Indiana to see her.
I really wish I could just sit here and enjoy this weather a while longer. It's just as nice as it can be outside today. You'd never know a hurricane/tropical storm/tropical depression passed just 40 miles to the east of here yesterday. You would just never have guessed it.
My heart and prayers go out this morning to those who are hurting in the Houston area. I've been trying to check on my life-long friend Terry Abbott but I haven't heard from him. Please say a prayer that all is okay.
