For dinner in New York City Monday evening, the Paramount hotel
concierge recommended the Tramonti located at 364 West 46th ST just
down the street from the hotel. We arrived by foot and were greeted
by a tall brunet who spoke broken English with a mid-European accent.
We asked to sit inside, but it was pre-heat wave and wound up sitting
in the door way of the establishment. Our waiter, I think I heard was
from Croatia. Nice guy. We could hardly understand by every couple
of words–like tongue twisting, rolling consonants and vowels, and
then key words like Lasagna, etc.
We ordered our food and it was brought in decent time. It was odd, at
one point, a girl with an iPod strapped to her head came, literally,
jogging into the restaurant and ran to the pizza oven you can sort of
see at the right/center back of the picture above.
The pizza oven wasn't working when we arrived, but we ordered lasagna,
and Kari got cheese ravioli and WOW!! What incredibly good food.
This place is the REAL Deal and was reasonably priced. The atmosphere
was the kind of thing you read about in a romantic novel. It was great.
I encourage you to put this place on your list of must visits while in
New York City. They have been in business for more than 114 years now
and as soon as you step near the place, you'll surely understand
why. I can't wait to go back again. Yum. Five stars for this
place. Dads, if you're looking to make points with the Mrs. in NYC,
this is the kind of place you take her to. She'll love it, and you
