Lots to cover this morning and not a lot of time to do it.
1) CNN has another writer, Roland Martin, talking about rumors and how the MSM can't cover them. Agreed. The rub this weekend over the John Edwards/Lisa Druck-Rielle Hunter story hasn't been about them not publishing rumor. It's been about getting out of the newsroom and getting to the truth and writing a story about it; something very much complicated by the change in the news business to more of an entertainment business, to a business where they're offering contract buy outs to hundreds if not thousands of good reporters around the country, and where the Internet, like it or not, is becoming people's main source for news and if the MSM isn't going to provide the news, others will.
2) The "pregnancy pact" principal packs precious personal properties peaceably and retires. Maybe there was a pact. Maybe there wasn't. Who cares, Mayor Kirk. The pregnancies, babies and student mothers are real. So did it do more good to spend the summer worrying about whether there was a pact or not and trying to defend your city's reputation as a voracious sex city for teens, or could you not have worked better with your superintendent, principal, teachers, parent and the students themselves to address the real problem. Well done. Run your principal off. Problem remains.
3) Michael Phelps is rolling in Gold. Wait until he gets back to the states and can make TV commercial after TV commercial. What a great role model for kids.
4) Much work to do. Gotta go.
