Today was the first day of school for our kids in Texas. Ashleigh, our five-year-old daughter has completed her first day of kindergarten.
Kari and I began the new day with something new for us, too. Instead of just me and Molly walking the morning, Kari joined us. What a great way to enjoy the morning air; with my wife. We did a quick lap, got back home, got the kids up. While she got Ashleigh dressed, I made bacon and eggs for the four so that they could have a good meal on the first day and begin things off on the right foot.
While over at the school, I also got to see my three daughters who were being dropped off by their mother.
And then back at the house, I also got to see our three boys head off to school as well.
And then back at the house, there was just Kari and the dogs.
What a huge change for Kari; to not have a child at home with her for the first time in 17 years. That's got to be a weird experience.
I said online I'd probably have just spent the first day sitting in a chair listening to the quiet.
But not Kari. She apparently was up cleaning and being active around the house.
Tonight, she and I are catching a quick supper after work. We also bought some planting soil last night and are looking forward to starting some seedlings in the garage to be able to plant in a few weeks. I'm looking forward to seeing this come to be.
It's exciting that our kids have begun a new chapter in their lives. The morning air sure was sweeter this morning while walking with Kari. I hope that's a new chapter for us, too. (I hit my 3,000 step count go for the day by 8:00 a.m. today) And that's exciting, too.
