The Adventures of @DaddyClaxton

As you all know, I mentioned Caroline Ubbens in a blog post over the weekend, encouraging you to consider going to her Twitter account, following her, and buying a candle from her some time in 2010 when you needed that extra special gift. Well, I've been in touch with Mrs. Ubbens and learned she has a pretty compelling story to tell, making her the newest of "Daddy's Concerns."
You can watch the video to see me tell the story, but she suffers from Endometriosis and is slated for surgery in Atlanta on Jan. 15. They were just transferred to the Atlanta area and are readjusting to their new surroundings. Alan, her husband, is an Army Sgt. who earned the Bronze Star for his service in Iraq. Needless to say, they've been through a lot.
While their Army health insurance is covering the bulk of the costs of the surgery, they're still going to have $1,500 in out-of-pocket expenses.
In light of all they have been through and as a way to say thanks to the Ubbens family, I'm out to raise them the $1,500 to cover those expenses and I want to do it before mid-January so that when she undergoes her operation, they have one less thing to worry about.
This is where the power of the Internet, the power of Twitter and Facebook can come shining through. Help me do what's right and send a donation to this family that says we honor and respect the sacrifices they have made for our country. Please, just click the PayPal button below and make a contribution of any size. It will all add up. And once you've made your contribution, please encourage your Download Ubbensfriends, families, co-workers to come here and contribute as well.
There will be future "Daddy's Concerns" stories that come from this and I pledge to you to keep this thing going until there are no more people out there willing to give. I know we can do this and I know doing this we can all work together for the better of others. So please, take a moment to reflect how lucky you are to be free, and how thankful we are to have families like the Ubbens in our service.
(I also want to thank my friend, Jon Dahlander, for granting permission to use his piano song, Above the Fog for this work. If you like it, you can find it on iTunes!)
Thanks for your support.

I can relate to the pain for I had endometriosis and I had to have a hysterectomy. They still have no clue about this disease but there are groups out there. Many thoughts and prayers.

Its a pleasure to try to help out. Im sad that so far weve only raised the first $450 or so. Were going to all have to really push this week to make Fridays goal!
Thanks for your comments and encouragement, Diane. Please ask your friends to give a few dollars this week so we can make our goal of $1,500.
