Ever see people who pin money to their shirts and wonder what the heck is up?

At least here in Texas, I’ve seen it often. By the end of the day, the person has a nice amount collected as a birthday gift, often from people they don’t even know.

So I’m curious if that works in Cyberspace.  I’m 45 today.  It’s been a rough year, frankly, and I’ve been overwhelmed by friends and their comments over on FaceBook. If you want to offer a gift, I’ll thank you properly and then  give the funds to the new non-profit we have going over on LivingToShare.org.

The organization is being established as a non-profit.  It’s created around Veronica Galaviz who was nearly murdered April 21, 2010 when her estranged husband broke into her home and tried to hill her.  She got out, but the man lit the house on fire before killing himself.  Veronica is out to raise awareness about what happens when law enforcement doesn’t enforce protective orders, which she had in place, and reports violations of it to police and they do nothing.
I, too, have been a victim of this horrible, horrible crime.  And that’s part of the reason why I’m now in my own apartment and trying to close out my marriage.  Saying “I do” and being in love, doesn’t give someone else a license to throw things at you, hit you, threaten you, and go on violent rampages why you stand there in wonder.
Thanks in advance for your generosity.  There’s much work to be done in 2011.
