I’m about to hit a milestone–10,000 followers on Twitter.
It doesn’t seem so long ago, well, yes it does, that I was telling my former boss, “Hey, I’m up to 300 followers!” thinking back in mid-2008 that was a pretty big deal.
Then came 1,000, 2,000 and even 3,000. Then I kind of hit a patch where I wasn’t so worried about how many followers I had, and then we all remember the post I did where I got rid of a ton of non-participatory followers because they simply weren’t following back or were robots or white teethers, or how to get a bazillion followers in 10 minutes.
Once I tried the bit about a robot getting me followers. That was just a bunch of baloney and I soon shut it off.
But now, at this writing, I sit at 9,997. I feel like Chuck Yeager wondering what will happen when I hit Mach 1.
So, out of fun and generosity, I’m offering a free Gillette Fushion ProGlide for whomever is my 10,000th follower as of 6 p.m. CST tonight, July 8, 2010. I’ll no doubt hit 10,000 a couple of times today, with the normal shift of people who quit following for whatever reason, etc. So, that’ll add some of the mystery to it. Oh, and my 10,000th follower has to be a person. Not an obvious robot or someone who has zero posts, and if number 10,000 is a woman, well, I’ll first ask if she has a man in her life she’d like to give it to, and if not, I’ll go to number 10,001, etc until I get one.
So, there’s the rules. Enjoy. Follow me even if you’re not going to be number 10,000. I’d like to get to know more about you.
