Albertson’s Has Archway Cookies Wedding Cake!
I have a confession to make. Since Saturday I have gone thru THREE boxes of Albertson’s Archway Cookies’ Wedding Cake. To me, this stuff is the equivalent of holiday crack. I could go without turkey, dressing, gravy, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, chocolate chip cookies, all of that, if I could just eat Archway Cookies Wedding Cake thru November and December, the only time they even have it in the stores.
As noted here on DaddyClaxton.com, I’ve not seen it in Albertson’s in Mesquite the past year or two. I’d really given up on ever having any more but ’tis the season of miracles.
It’s boxed now. Not in the crinkle paper wrapping like it used to be, and I don’t think there are as many a package and like for most everything at Albertson’s, I think I’m paying more for less. (Ever wonder what it is you’ve saved when they finished checking you out and circle a number on your receipt and say you saved that amount? I never have understood saved against what.)
Confession Good For The Soul
I also felt I needed to confess this fact because it won’t be too long before my eldest daughter is here in my room around the computer wondering if I’m doing coke as there’s white powder all over the place. I assure you, it’s just confectionary sugar, but nonetheless, I don’t want to eat these like I have been. I’m trying to be good about what I eat, when I eat and how much, but then the Devil himself made me go down the cookie aisle and find these delicious morsels.
I tried a recipe or two last year to make these and I just could not capture the same salty contrasting taste that Archway has mastered in these cookies. I wish they didn’t appear in Albertson’s just two months out of the year, but that’s probably a good thing anyways.
So, thanks, Albertson’s for stocking these this year, and thanks Archway for making such an amazing treat. They really are the best I’ve ever had and part of what has become such an enjoyable part of the holiday season.
